Effective Date: January 01, 2024
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Skynet Global Observatory (“Skynet”) services, you agree to abide by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and any modifications. If you disagree with any part of these Terms, you must discontinue your use of Skynet.
2. Description of Services
Skynet provides a platform for remote telescope access, data analysis tools, and a collaborative environment for astronomical research and education. Users can create observing accounts, manage hardware, and access observational data through the Skynet platform.
3. Eligibility and Account Registration
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date information for your Skynet account. You are solely responsible for activity conducted under your account.
4. User Conduct
You agree not to misuse Skynet's services. Misuse includes unauthorized access to telescope systems, disrupting services, or using Skynet to violate applicable laws or regulations. Respectful and collaborative behavior is expected within the Skynet community. Any harassment, abusive behavior, or discrimination will lead to account suspension or termination.
5. Use of Observational Data
Ownership and Licensing: Data accessed or generated via Skynet remains the property of Skynet or its affiliated observatories. Users may use the data for educational or research purposes but must acknowledge Skynet in publications or presentations. Restricted Use: Users are prohibited from redistributing Skynet data for commercial purposes without explicit permission.
6. Intellectual Property
All materials on Skynet's website, including software, designs, text, and graphics, are protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or modification of any Skynet materials is prohibited.
7. Account Termination
Skynet reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or engage in prohibited behavior.
8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
Skynet does not guarantee uninterrupted access to telescopes or data. Maintenance, network issues, or external factors may impact availability. Skynet is not liable for damages arising from the use or inability to use its services. This limitation applies to direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
9. Changes to Terms
Skynet reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any updates will be posted on the website, and continued use of Skynet constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
